N1 Center
Category: Shopping
The N1 Centre in Islington, a joint venture between Miller Developments and Centros Miller, in association with the London Borough of Islington, opened in June 2002. Beginning with a highly respectable 70,000 shoppers a week, by August this number had increased to 125,000 and was over 200,000 by Christmas 2002 - far exceeding everyone's expectations.

Offering a host of top brand names, fashionable restaurants and live music, Islington's N1 Centre has something for everyone.

N1's popularity, of course, is partly due to its location. Occupying a prime site opposite the Angel Underground, it was always guaranteed a certain amount of custom. What has drawn the crowds in droves though is the 'A-list' tenant roster attracted to this prestigious 150,000 sq ft development. Here you'll find top retail names like GAP, HMV, Next, Monsoon and FCUK, alongside restaurants and bars including Yo! Sushi and Wagamama, plus a reincarnation of London's legendary Marquee Club and a nine screen, 40,000 sq ft Warner Village Cinema - all under one roof!

To make as big a splash as possible, N1 has played host to a number of high profile promotions, including a Prize Draw to celebrate the opening of the centre itself, with a Smart Car as the star prize. Rock giants Primal Scream, meanwhile, played at the opening of the Marquee Club, the brainchild of Eurythmics' Dave Stewart and club entrepreneur Mark Fuller.

Pre-funded by Delancey, the N1 Centre took just two years to build. Its centrepiece is a stone and glazed kiosk adorned by a giant pair of angel wings in honour of its location.
